Town Administrator Mallory Aronstein and Town Planner John Hansen announce that the Town of Swansea will be hosting a public workshop for the Comprehensive Plan next week.

WHEN:

Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

WHERE:

Case High School Library, 70 School St.

WHAT:

Residents will have a chance to attend this workshop where they can learn more about the ongoing efforts to update Swansea’s Comprehensive Plan, ask questions and offer their feedback on goals they believe should be set out in the plan.

This workshop, which will be the first in a series of workshops for the Comprehensive Plan, will focus on Open Space and Recreation, Transportation, and Public Facilities and Services.

This workshop will be interactive and flexible, allowing the public to come and go as they please and discuss these focus elements with Town officials and representatives from the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District (SRPEDD), the regional planning agency that is assisting with the preparation of the Plan.

Swansea officials encourage residents to come and enjoy an evening with their fellow community members with an opportunity to help shape the future of Swansea. As a little enticement, all attendees will be entered into a chance to win a door prize, a gift card from the Ice Cream Barn.

This workshop follows a survey that was sent out to the public over the summer that sought overall opinions on the vision for the Town as well as various elements including Economic Development, Transportation, Housing, Land Use, Natural and Cultural Resources, Open Space and Recreation, Public Facilities and Services, and Sustainability. The response rate was around 8%, which is higher than normal for these types of surveys.

“After a great response from the survey sent out this summer, we are eager to begin diving deeper into individual sections and creating goals and action items based on the responses,” said Town Planner Hansen.
